On top of that, Tolbert said that’s no different from any other receiver coming into the league. But Judge and the Giants like upside in young players. ![]() The only common criticism of Toney’s abilities is that he isn’t a polished route runner. “He’s instinctive, he’s tough, makes a lot of plays with the ball in his hands. ![]() “He’s a playmaker,” director of college scouting Chris Pettit said Thursday. Not every player translates impressive measurables to the field, of course, but Toney’s film speaks for itself. He jumped 11-feet four inches in the broad, and he skied 39.5 inches in the vertical. He ran a 4.37 40-yard dash, down the 4.5 he ran on the first day of training. And Toney lit it up at Florida’s pro day: Toney and Washington DT Levi Onwuzurike, a Detroit Lions second-round pick, bonded and fed off each other’s energy. Then the guy would try it and his time was dropping down.” And he’d be on the side helping these guys out, saying look this is what the coach told me. “There were a couple kids that weren’t as fast but they could tell he’s the alpha when it comes to speed. “I had a small group due to COVID,” Holmes said. Holmes said Toney locked in and was “one of the best teammates that I’ve seen in here,” helping and pushing the rest of the 10-person group. “He came in wearing a hoodie and baggy clothes, and now he’s in compression shirts and flexing on everybody in the background,” Holmes said with a laugh. But by the end of his training he was throwing up 13-14 reps. He could barely do one rep on the 225-pound bench when he arrived due to a past shoulder injury that had kept him off the bar. Toney could have stayed in Florida and worked out, but he flew out to California because he “really wanted to lock in.” “I ran back inside to all my assistant strength coaches and physical therapy staff and I said, ‘We got us one. “We got him on the field for change of direction and broad jump, and he damn near jumped 11-feet the first day,” Holmes said Saturday. Roy Holmes of EXOS San Diego, who trained Toney for 10-11 weeks ahead of Florida’s pro day in March, said the receiver’s gifts were clear from Day 1. We can’t assume what we saw on college tape is the best fit for them.”īut Toney’s physical tools are so unique, it shouldn’t be difficult to find a place for him. The head coach said after picking him: “There’s a lot of things he can do and has a lot of versatility, but like every rookie coming in here, they’ve got to earn what they get and we’re going to work them multiple positions to find their strengths. Judge and his coaching staff don’t intend to hand their players anything, Toney included. He erupted his senior year for 1,145 scrimmage yards and 11 touchdowns, on top of 294 yards and a touchdown in the return game. Toney dropped only three of his 123 catchable targets for the Gators, per Pro Football Focus. And he’s got speed to accelerate and take it the distance … I remember talking to him about being more of a defensive back. He has really good balance and body control. “When he gets the ball in his hands, he’s like a running back,” Pruitt said. Then Pruitt had the honor of trying to stop Toney when he became Tennessee’s head coach. Toney took an unofficial visit but ultimately chose Florida. Pruitt watched Toney practice several times in high school. He switched to receiver in college and is now a Giants first round pick. But all the football stuff aside, none of that holds a candle to what kind of person this guy was, and I think everybody he interacted with, he impacted.” “We talked through route technique, we talked through defensive recognition, we talked through how he sees it on the field,” Judge said. But his ability of almost transcending being a player and being a coach at times with the way he would share wisdom and talk through techniques, the hours that he would sit in my office when we talked through game plans.” “This guy was able to be a leader to the team as an older, experienced player,” Judge said. But Judge said the accomplished receiver had a “profound” impact on him and on a ton of players. Thomas was injured during his brief time with the Patriots in 2019, when Judge took on coaching the receivers in addition to being special teams coordinator. Judge said he woke up to overnight texts from his wife about the sad news. Vary the timer’s positions to insert animations, blur them, focus out. In the case of PC, most people access Instagram using Chrome, so we'll describe the sequence of actions for this particular browser. If you want to post some pictures to Instagram from a PC, just follow these instructions. But when you use Instagram on a PC, there are several ways around it. Such a condition makes it very difficult for users to post photos from a computer. This is because the application has a closed source code: the system must detect the camera and the touch screen to allow the publication. Unfortunately, it is not possible to simply open a social networking site in the Google Chrome browser and publish a photo on Instagram from your computer. All right, how to post to Instagram from a computer? Posting Photos from a PC If you don't know how to use one of the most popular social networks on your desktop or laptop computer and want to upload new shots as fast as you do from your smartphone, then this article is for you. Of course, you can access Instagram on your PC or Mac, but few people get the hang of it the first time and quickly post pictures on Instagram on Windows and Mac. If you've often asked how to download photos and videos to Instagram from my computer before, there's no problem anymore. This issue is also particularly relevant for Instagram users who prefer to use a camera rather than a smartphone to take pictures and want to upload photos with all processed footage from a desktop computer. This raises the question of how to post to Instagram from your computer. However, not all files can be stored on a smartphone, and some people are simply more comfortable viewing and processing photos on a larger screen. But just taking a photo or video is not as interesting as sharing it with friends, colleagues, and acquaintances. Many people like to take pictures, post photos and videos on Instagram, and feel creative to capture moments in history, and the most accessible and always-at-hand device for this purpose is a mobile device. She just wasn't taken notice of." A relative called her "woebegone" and a child who wasn't getting enough cuddles. "She always had a sad look on her face, she had no spirit, no life. Brown describes the toddler as a slow child developmentally. Joanne Brown, who had children at the kohanga, described Lillybing that morning as "a mess" with "shit all down her legs." It was a cold and rainy day and Lillybing's bare feet were pinky-purple with the cold and her nose was snotty. The preschool had recently changed hands and the sisters were working hard to bring it up to national safety guidelines for re-opening on the following Monday. They both worked there as administrators and Lillybing and their own children attended. On the Friday morning, Namana and Paewai took Lillybing and their own children to the Nga Waka Te Kohanga Reo in Carterton. She spent the night, as usual, sleeping in Namana and Hemopo's shabby bedroom. ![]() Neither she, nor her cousins at Charles St, were known to the Child, Youth and Family Services. Only two weeks short of her second birthday, the cherubic-looking girl appeared to be suffering only nappy rash, a cut between her toes and a few bumps and bruises. The day she arrived at Namana's, Lillybing seemed to be in good health. It was Namana who breastfed Lillybing as an infant and taught her to walk. Namana, helped by her blood-sister, Rongomai Paewai, a then-26-year-old beneficiary and mother, took over a lot of the upbringing of Lillybing, and even Terina Matiaha referred to her step-sister as the toddler's second mother. When Terina Matiaha was asked in court where Karaitiana was these days, she replied, "Wellington, I think." Terina Matiaha's first-born was given to her mother to bring up. Her father, Joshua Karaitiana, was 17 when she was born and had fathered her older brother when he was 14. Little Lillybing lived mostly in Masterton with her mother, grandmother and four of her aunts and uncles, aged between 10 and 18. The couple's first-born child was given up for adoption because Hemopo questioned its paternity, but was later taken back. Hemopo was seen as a loving father and his relationship with Namana seemed solid in an environment in which it was commonplace for men to come and go. The children were described as unworldly kids, who just didn't get much stimulation. Two rusting car wrecks - one full of fetid rubbish and nappies - took pride of place on the lawn. The Hemopo-Namana children, aged between 2 and 8, were rarely seen playing outside the house. ![]() So that afternoon, Josephine Matiaha dropped Lillybing off at the run-down weatherboard home in semi-rural Charles St, Carterton, that Namana shared with her partner, David Hemopo - the unemployed father of her children. Josephine would look after Lillybing's older brother, then aged 3. But she reluctantly agreed to take Lillybing until the baby was out of hospital. Namana told a friend that Terina Matiaha was a useless mother and she was sick of providing food and nappies for Lillybing when her own resources were so stretched. She had four children of her own and was heavily pregnant with another. On that Thursday Namana was not keen to have her. Often Lillybing would be dropped off on a Thursday and not picked up until Saturday. She was concentrating on the new baby, and Lillybing - christened Hinewaoriki Karaitiana-Matiaha but nicknamed after an aunty Lily - was spending more and more time with Matiaha's step-sister, Rachaelle Namana, then aged 27. Terina Matiaha would spend the next two nights at her hospital bedside, sneaking out that evening to call the numbers at housie. Earlier that day Lillybing's 9-month-old younger sister had been admitted to Masterton Hospital with diarrhoea and dehydration. It was housie night at Masterton East School and Lillybing's mother, Terina Matiaha, aged 23, and Matiaha's mother, Josephine Matiaha, were regulars. Thursday July 20, 2000, was the beginning of the end for Lillybing. ![]() ALISON HORWOOD chronicles how the little girl known as Lillybing came to the end of her short life. ![]() If you are running the Aero interface, then you additionally need to click “Advanced appearance settings”.Ĭlicking on the elements in the Window Color and Appearance dialogĪutomatically selects the corresponding item in the dropdown list.Right click on an empty spot on your Desktop and choose Personalize….Changing the font size and color is not possible. There's a conversation where Charles and his comrades are talking with each other, speaking fondly of their wives and kids. And the friendship the four of them have feels so natural, and makes for nice, compelling viewing. I especially like Jack, who is a happy and crazy but lovable dynamite detonator. is pretty fun to watch, and Jack Peters, Jacob Jacobsen and Williams are all charming and well-written characters. I think the reason I didn't care about it as much is because it wasn't focused on a lot. The women working together (with Caroline organizing the team) is pretty lightweight stuff, although it provides a little bit of humor with one of them being less enthusiastic than the rest. The men head off to find work, Charles and his new friends picking one at a rock quarry. The women stay in the village trying to grow some crops, hard as it may be. The thunder destroys all crops and everyone is in harsh economic trouble. But if you ask me what was the first sign of the show's greatness, definitely this one. CPR labour contractor Andrew Onderdonk estimated that three Chinese workers died for every kilometre of track laid in the Fraser Canyon. The first two episodes of the show were pretty good albeit corny. They worked in extremely dangerous conditions, and many were killed in blasting accidents, rock- and mudslides and falls. While most labourers earned between $1 and $2.50 a day, Chinese labourers earned less: between $0.75 and $1.25. In British Columbia, however, an estimated 15,000 Chinese men and boys worked on the railway. Most CPR labourers came from Europe, the United States and eastern Canada. They laid track over swampland, across rivers and around mountains, and built massive wooden trestles to bridge canyons and river valleys. Construction crews then cleared and levelled the land, sometimes having to dynamite their way through rock. Surveyors first staked out a route for the railway. The construction of the CPR was a massive undertaking that required the labour of many thousands of workers. Smith drove in the last spike at Craigellachie, British Columbia. The railway was completed on November 7, 1885, when CPR director Donald A. Ironically, it was an American - William Cornelius Van Horne - who oversaw construction of the “all-Canadian railway” across 5,000 kilometres of forests, prairies and mountains. Given its huge task, however, the CPR teetered repeatedly on the brink of bankruptcy. The new government approved the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) company and provided generous financial support. Macdonald’s Conservatives won the 1878 election on the promise of a “national policy” calling for completion of the transcontinental railway. It had promised this railway to British Columbia as a condition of the colony joining Confederation in June 1871. Government surveyors measured and mapped the land, while scientists took stock of its resources.īuilding a transcontinental railway was the government’s biggest challenge, one it met, but at tremendous human and financial cost. The paramilitary North-West Mounted Police enforced Canadian law and sovereignty in the region. In the 1870s and early 1880s, the Canadian government established control over the West and laid the foundations of a new society. |
